Tequila Reposado
VS. Anejo Tequila

The term “Reposado” itself means rested. While the term “Anejo” refers to a vintage drink. Apart from their names, here are a few essential differences between the two equally beautiful forms of tequila:
AGING PERIOD
The reposado and Añejo tequila mainly differ based on aging. Aging refers to the period the tequila spends resting in the oak barrel. The Reposado tequila is aged somewhere between, 60 to 364 days, while the Añejo Tequila is aged for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 3 years. Tequilas owe their color to the different barrels they age in and the time they age for.
FLAVOR PROFILE
The flavor profile of spirits varies on the distillation method, as well as the aging period. This is precisely why the Reposado tequila matures as it ages, adding hints of vanilla and oak to its already agave flavor.
Añejo Tequila (due to the long time it rest in wood barrels) collects a more potent flavor profile, encompassing solid notes of caramel, toffee, and of course, oak.
These flavors blend in complete harmony with the original agave flavor of the Añejo tequila, resulting in a exquisite spirit.
STORAGE
Añejo Tequila is stored for aging in small barrels. The maximum capacity in storage casks can range up to 600 liters. This allows for a more intense flavor and color to develop during the aging process.
Reposado Tequila, on the other hand, is aged for a shorter period of time and is not limited to specific barrel sizes. While smaller barrels are still commonly used, Reposado can also be stored in larger casks ranging up to 20,000 liters. This provides a more mellow and balanced flavor profile, with a lighter color and aroma than Añejo.
